Margaret Gravitt & Jim McCrain

Picture
Margaret Gravitt & Jim McCrain
Have you ever heard a voice that took you into the song and made you feel every emotion and nuance of the piece? If you have not, then perhaps you have not experienced a performance by Margaret Lyle Gravitt. Her clear alto voice is as hauntingly beautiful as the ballads she sings. She draws an audience into the heart of heritage and tradition. She weaves the tapestry of the old and the new and reminds us that "whatever is remembered, lives. Sheentertains and while they are not looking, may teach her listeners a little something, if only to look behind in order to see the way ahead more clearly. She is a wonderful addition to any gathering as she performs the ancient and modern songs of the wandering Gael who has left an indelible mark from the Isle of the Blessed to the farthest corner of the earth.

Margaret will be joined by long-time friend Jim McCrain in 2017. Jim has been performing with Margaret for many years, and has produced all but one of her recordings. He got his start with the TSF&HG 30 years ago as "The Sound Guy." Alex Beaton and Margaret Gravitt soon urged him to start performing at the Festival and frequently brought him up on stage to accompany them. Jim can be heard in the Dallas area, playing acoustic rock and folk music. (He is also an accomplished photographer and long-distance expedition leader!)
